                  corner with love

Summary:

Barbie’s character (Xin Lei) grew up in Shanghai. She is known as "princess" to her parents who have spoiled her very much. She understands 8 different languages and plays the piano well. But her talents mean nothing when faced with the challenge known as "love".

The opposite however, is Alan Luo’s character (Qin Lang). He grew up in Taiwan with a strong interest in art. His grandmother who raised him since young may look down upon the interest, but tells him that art can penetrate much.

When the two very different people meet, what is it that is waiting for them around the corner? Is it unexplainable or is it just love?

 from crunchyroll

i was just looking around for another Show Luo drama series and found this one.. and i think i have to say this is a job well done by Barbie Xu and of course by Show Luo.. good performance in comedy that can make us laugh and an excellent performance in drama that it can really make the viewers teary-eyed or to some shed flowing tears! not to mention the nice background songs! Although Show Luo is really comical, he’s really good in drama as well — a comedian like him has a very fast ability to cry too, the character suits him.

Hot Shot also known as Basketball Fire or Lan Qiu Huo is currently airing in Taiwan but not yet here in Philippines though ABS-CBN already advertised this series and will air it maybe later this year or early next year (no fix schedule was released). This series is starred by 3 big male Taiwan celebrities Jerry Yan of JVKV (formerly F4), Chun Wu of Fahrenheit and  Show Luo, an award winning solo artist, actor and host. Anyway, some episodes are already out online with english subtitles and even though the series released is not yet complete, i prefer to watch a bit of it just to see how Show Luo, the host of 100% Entertainment, acts.. haha! and as I expected, he’s really funny although his role is sort of exaggerated but since I have this "shallow happiness", for me (and to a lot of people who have already seen the first few eps.), he’s funny! LoL! and for the basketball scenes and the different "dunk styles", I think its kind of overplayed but not bad, it can somehow amaze the viewers and the moves are i guess eye-catching too. I haven’t seen all 13 episodes yet so I can’t do more reviews but so far so good!

hello mr. God

i just finished watching Hello Mr. God, a korean drama that tells a story about this bright and innocent 27 years old guy with an IQ of 65. because of his issues he is neglected by society and frowned upon, but he tries to be optimistic and not let it bother him. Seo Eun-Hye (Kim Ok Bin), a fumbling swindler running from the cops and who only believes money can bring her happiness, and love will bring more sadness than it’s worth. one day she meets this boy and he completely changes her outlook in life.

a highly recommended drama series! though it takes days to watch this, but im pretty sure this will not get you bored. a really different love triangle between a mentally-ill person, a swindler slave-for-money woman and a know-it-all-wishing-to-be-god-like man! it does not only focus on a love story but a lot of things are being emphasized here especially how to appreciate and be happy with those small and simple things in life.. you’ll surely love the characters here! two thumbs up!!!

beautiful japanese drama about this certain circle of friends.. the content seems to be mature and really deep.. there are some adult scenes but it just portray some social issues that really exist nowadays.. find it really interesting since the first episode.. like it! really nice one! so far so good (too bad other eps not yet uploaded)..

a 2003-released typical korean movie.. i think this is one of those that most teen-agers and young adults like to watch, a movie with a romantic comedy theme.. its funny although the storyline is commonly used in a lot of asian movies/drama.. not bad, it can still entertain the watchers!

                    puzzle

Synopsis:

a 30 year old woman, Misako Ayukawa, is an English teacher with ironically poor English skills. She values herself over her students, and money over love. She displays arrogance in front of her students, but acts pleasantly around her peers and family. However, Ayukawa possesses a brilliant mind for solving puzzles. She ends up tackling various cases around the school along with 3 of her top students.

so far so good.. i’m not yet done watching all the episodes since it was just produced recently and video uploads are not yet complete, i guess.. but this one has a really different plot compared to any other asian movies/drama, definitely not a typical storyline.. trick and trick and trick! the mysteries and riddles were really mind twister, it takes a genius to understand it all.. haha.. still looking forward to watch all the episodes..

sad movie

Synopsis:

The film focuses on the stories about four relationships and their trials, pains, heartaches, and subsequent separations. The plot lines eventually connect in some way, but they remain unrelated for the most part.

The passionate fire fighter, 30 years old, tries to propose to his lover but every time he misses the chance. In the meantime, she becomes anxious whenever she hears a siren.

Suk-hyeon intends to break up with her jobless lover, Ha-seok, and he begins an agency that helps other lovers to break up.

Juyeong is mad at her son’s troubles in school, but she realizes that she has little time to spend with him.

Su-eun, with a hearing impairment and a burn on her face, falls in her first love but she doesn’t have the courage to come out in his presence.

4 different stories packed in one movie.. though its a bit confusing story line because of the cut-and-continue-the-other-story way of scene organization, but over all, not bad, its good, very touching esp. the mother-son story.. all stories ended as how the title says, a sad movie indeed!

                      love me not

Synopsis:

Julian has lived off with the money he lures from his rich female customers. But now he faces usurious debts from a hasty expansion of his business, and he will be killed unless he clears the debt in one month. The only way to save himself is to pretend to be the long-lost brother of an heiress and kill her to get her huge fortune. Min, the blind heiress, cold-hearted like Julian, slowly opens herself to him, and he, too, falls for her. But Julian has to pay his creditor and what makes it worse for him is that the illness that took Min’s eyesight relapsed, threatening her life.

its a little draggy.. a bit confusing ending.. it leaves a question as to what actually happened to both the lead characters (Julian and Min).. but still, over all, a nice movie, not a typical girl-meets-guy story.. you’ll never expect what will happen next.. emotion has eliminated evil intentions.. nice!

how to become myself

the story runs so smooth.. probably the slowest movie i ever watched! nothing exciting, nothing thrilling but watching it from the start gives me the eagerness to know and look forward to the message it conveys. the story is so true to youth nowadays.. its in the reality! trying to wear a mask and fake one’s self to be accepted.. doing what the majority does just to be "in".. one thing i learned watching this really slow pace movie: BE REAL! Stop the "fake me" business!

death note

(Part1)
Yagami Light is a brilliant college student who, one day, finds a notebook simply titled "Death Note." Inside of this book is a list of rules and details as for the use of the "Death Note." When he realizes the power he holds, he decides he’s going to make over the world. He wants to make it into a better place by killing those who do others harm. He has been nicknamed by the police "Kira." L, a brilliant detective who lives in secrecy, rises from the shadows and puts his life on the line trying to capture Light. Both L and Light believe themselves on the side of Justice, and the two match wits trying to show exactly which of them is "good" and which of them is "evil."

(Part 2)
When we last left Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara), he had just perpetrated the most elaborate and successful demonstration of his Death Note, the supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written inside it. As a result of his clever scheming, Light was invited to join the investigation team chasing the mass murderer known as Kira — who just so happens to be Light, anonymously using the Death Note to kill scores of criminals daily. However, oddball super detective and avid sugar-lover L (Kinichi Matsuyama) truly suspects that Light is Kira, and he’s not shy about letting Light know. During their initial and subsequent meetings, L basically rubs Light’s face in his obvious suspicion.
However, instead of avoiding potential capture, Light embraces the chance to work side-by-side with his sweets-loving rival. Now that L and Light/Kira are working together, the stage is set for an epic battle between two insanely smart guys who like to talk a lot. It’s a showdown of acrobatic mental geniuses, who use keen reasoning and elaborate mindgames to outwit their wily opponent. Who will be the last name written in the Death Note? Will it be the megalomaniacal Light, or the wacky but honorable L? And will Death Note fans pissed at the fate of the manga characters find this new cinema version to be satisfying?

The drama is based on the Japanese shoujo manga "Romance Godan Katsuyou" by Kazuko Fujita.

details taken from crunchyroll..

this 13-episode series is typical but nice, full of funny and crazy moments, the characters are good in making things so complicated.. lol!! anyway, they also got nice background music, New Home sung by S.H.E and fei lun hai (Chun and Calvin are members of fei lun hai).. i dont know if ABS-CBN will be using the same opening song as the original one.. somehow, i just like cai – calvin’s character in the middle and later part of the drama and Chun is way hotter here than in Hana Kimi maybe because of his royalty look, i guess.. hehe.. later episodes are just so sad.. i’ve read that asian drama fanatics are screaming for a second season!

and ei, this is just a crazy observation, the royal mansion used here same as the one in meteor garden, dao ming si’s house, isn’t it?! haha.. not sure but seems its the same esp. the main entrance area! whatever! by the way, additional scoop for all chunatics, chun will be promoting Romantic Princess here in Pinas this july along with his co-star in RP and fei lun hai groupmate Calvin Chen..

ella, hebe, selina - S.H.E

S.H.E., a singing girl group who undoubtedly is very popular in Taiwan and other Asian countries since they released their 1st album in 2001. they’re now a bit senior in their singing career but they are still so visible and active in the showbiz industry.. their group name was taken from the first letter of each member’s first name: S-Selina, H-Hebe, E-Ella.. got a very tight bond with each other since they once live in the same roof!

S.H.E. was just introduced to me by a friend, she’s their big fan actually and i wonder how she understands their songs! duh?! online translation, what’s the use! lol! well anyway, having seen their MVs and heard their songs, yup, they really have the voice and the character too.. like the way they are, so true! i was influenced by my friend and watched some video clippings of the group and im starting to like them though i dont understand what they are talking about or what they’re singing! haha.. and before i forget, i just realized weeks ago, Ella is the one who played ReiXi in Hana Kimi Taiwan, the one who pretended to be a boy.. hehe..

nothing much to say, just like ‘em as an artist, as a person esp. when the SiChuan tragedy happened, they were there along with their co-HIM artists to symphatize and help! so touched! :)
